German machine tool industry orders fell 7% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2012

According to the statistics of the German Machine Tool Manufacturers Association (VDW), in the first quarter of 2012, the order book for the German machine tool industry was 43.9 billion euros, which was a year-on-year drop of 7%. Among them, domestic orders were 1.54 billion euros, down 1% year-on-year; foreign orders were 2.85 billion euros, down 9% year-on-year. The inventory of orders was 9.0 months, which was higher than the 8.7 months of the same period last year.

In the first quarter, the total output value of the German machine tool industry was 3.1 billion euros, a year-on-year increase of 22%. It is lower than the 31% increase in 2011. The machine tool output value was 2.23 billion euros, an increase of 23% year-on-year, which was lower than the 34% increase in 2011. The output value of cutting machine tools was 1.76 billion Euros, a year-on-year increase of 29%, which was a slowdown of 9 percentage points from the growth rate in 2011; the output value of shaped machine tools was 470 million Euros, an increase of 7% year-on-year, an increase of 18 points from 2011. The output value of the annex was 610 million euros, an increase of 18% over the same period of last year, and the increase rate was 4 points slower than in 2011. Assembled, repaired and installed 260 million euros, an increase of 20% over the same period of last year. The growth rate slowed down by 2 points.

In the first quarter, the total output value of German machine tools (excluding assembly, maintenance, and installation) was 2.84 billion Euros, a year-on-year increase of 22%, a slowdown of 9 points from 2011, and an export of 2.09 billion Euros, a year-on-year increase of 33%, and an acceleration over 20112. Point; Imports of 720 million euros, an increase of 24%, an increase of 18 points; domestic consumption of 1.47 billion euros, an increase of 11%, an increase of 26 points. The export rate (export/output value) was 73.6%, and the import rate (import/domestic consumption) was 49.3%.

In the first quarter of 2012, the utilization rate of the entire machine tool industry in the German machine tool industry was 95.1%, which was higher than the 93.8% in the same period of last year. The number of people employed was 68,264, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%, which was 4.1 points faster than the increase in 2011.
